World Series Game 7 Draws 51M Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a aggregate over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American average was 16.1 million. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
